Hosting it yourself
A PC that runs around the clock, ports and routers to configure, and friends waiting for the host to come online.
About PufferHost
PufferHost lets anyone create and run a Minecraft server at no cost. Sign up, start your server, and play with your friends.
Our story
PufferHost was founded by Mihail Griniuc, a Minecraft veteran who has been playing since the game’s earliest days. Across those years, the same routine kept repeating: the moment a group of friends wanted a shared world, someone had to solve the server problem.
Hosting the world on a personal PC meant leaving a computer running around the clock, with everyone waiting until the host came online. Renting a server fixed the uptime but added a monthly bill that is hard to justify for a casual world.
Mihail was far from alone. Players on forums and in community threads described the same frustrations again and again: servers that only exist while one machine is on, hardware running 24/7 just to keep a world available, and costs that shut out players who simply wanted to build with friends.
“You should be able to sign up, start your server and play in comfort, without paying anything and without depending on someone else’s computer being awake.”
That idea became PufferHost: an entirely free Minecraft server hosting service for everyone. No payment is involved to create your server. Just sign up and start it. It really is that easy.

What we stand for
Creating a server costs nothing. There is no payment step to get through.
Your world is not tied to anyone’s computer, so it is there when your friends are.
Each server gets a dedicated CPU core and 3 GB of RAM, enough for a world with friends.
Guides come from running real servers and answering real player questions.
Editorial standards
The guides, knowledge base and calculators are reviewed by the founder. Spotted a mistake? Email [email protected] and we will correct it.
Topics come from problems players actually hit: lag, crashes, memory, ports and plugins.
Every guide shows when it was last updated, and we revise pages as Minecraft and server software change.
Create a free server in minutes. Questions or ideas are always welcome.
