Size your server before you build it — memory, CPU and running costs, with every assumption shown.

Plan your server before you start. Each estimate runs in your browser.
- RAM Calculator Enter players, software, plugins and distances to see how much memory your world actually wants. Updated
- CPU Calculator Map players, software, plugins and distance onto the tick budget that decides smooth gameplay. Updated
- Cost Calculator Turn RAM, players and expected uptime into a monthly market estimate versus free hosting. Updated
What we size against
The free PufferHost server every result is measured against.
- Memory
- 3 GB
- Player slots
- 10
- CPU per server
- 1 core · 2 threads
- Storage
- 4 GB SSD
Node CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900XT (16 cores / 32 threads).
How these estimates work
Most hosting questions are really sizing questions. How much memory does a world with ten players and a plugin pack need? How much of a CPU core does that workload actually consume? What does the same configuration cost per month somewhere else? These three calculators answer those questions with the working shown, so you can check the reasoning rather than trust a number.
They are built around the free PufferHost tier — 3 GB of memory, ten player slots and one dedicated core of an AMD Ryzen 9 5900XT — but the maths is general. If a result tells you that your target configuration is larger than the free tier, that is useful information, not a sales pitch.
- Each calculator uses a documented model rather than a black box: you can read every coefficient and assumption on the tool page itself.
- Figures are planning estimates. World size, entity density and play style move real usage around, which is why results are expressed as ranges and verdicts instead of false precision.
- Market pricing in the cost calculator is a set of generic bands, not any named vendor’s price list.
Common questions
Are these Minecraft server calculators free to use?
Yes. All three run entirely in your browser, need no account, and send nothing to a server — which also means they respond instantly as you drag a slider.
How accurate are the estimates?
They are planning estimates built on a documented model of how players, plugins, chunk distances and tick work translate into memory and CPU load. Treat them as a well-reasoned starting point, then confirm with real numbers from your own console — MSPT and memory usage are both visible there.
Do the calculators cover modded servers?
Not yet. PufferHost does not run Fabric, Forge or NeoForge servers today, so the RAM and CPU calculators mark those loaders as coming soon rather than inventing recommendations for a workload they cannot measure here.
Can I use the results for a server I host somewhere else?
Yes. The RAM and CPU guidance is general Minecraft capacity planning and applies to any host or a self-managed machine. Only the cost calculator is PufferHost-specific, and its market columns are generic estimates rather than quotes.
